Pirates are nothing new to The Elder Scrolls universe as they have been referenced in the series since its very outset. In Skyrim there are very few pirate-themed questlines even though there are several pirates referenced in books and by NPCs as inhabiting Skyrim's northern coastline. The Sea of Ghosts is home to many mysteries, the Dead Man's Dread is just the latest.RELATED: Skyrim: Everything You Should Know About Saints And SeducersThe Dead Man's Dread is a ship rumored to be the vessel that the legendary hero Cyrus traveled on after his adventures. Cyrus was the main character in The Elder Scrolls Redguard, and in this Skyrim Creation players are given the chance to recover some of his lost treasures, take the ship for themselves, and learn about what happened to this not-oft-mentioned hero.
In vanilla Skyrim there are a few quests that directly involve the province's pirates, most notably the Jaree-Ra questline in Solitude where the Dragonborn helps to crash a ship for its loot. While colorful pirate aesthetics might seem out-of-place in a game like Skyrim, these ocean-faring people cause a lot of problems for merchants on the northern coastline. These raids in turn instigate a great deal of conflict and problems in cities like Solitude and Dawnstar, even if players don't get to see much of it.
The Hanging Gardens - A mod worth noting for pirates and cutthroats. A remote Dwemer outpost perfect for the looting. Comes with a Morrowind-like quest, filled with secrets as well as sea travel with pirate raids
Hidden Hideouts of Skyrim City Edition - Allows you to enter the town (only walled cities, meaning Markarth, Solitude, Whiterun, Windhelm and Riften), without having to get past guards especially if you have a bounty.
Travel to Haknir's Shoal and fight the group of pirates. The pirate leader holds the Deathbrand Treasure Map and the locations of the treasure. In a chest nearby is the first piece, the Deathbrand Helm.
The pirate lair of Gao the Greater is situated on an island along the Silkworm River. From it, pirates raid the area around the trading town of Tien's Landing. In the past, their activities have been largely confined to theft, but under Gao's direction, they have refocused their operations on slavery.

Pirates? In Skyrim? Absolutely. "Rise in the East" is a quest that takes place along the coast in Windhelm, Dawnstar, and Japhet's Folly. The East Empire Company is doing its best to retain an establishment of their company in the areas mentioned, but unfortunately, they've constantly been plagued by the fact that a group of pirates known as the Blood Horkers has been attacking all of their shipments and expropriating their supplies. This quest is slightly out of the way, but one of the most fun things about it is that after the player has stolen journals, killed the mage leader of the Blood Horkers, and generally made sure everything is squared away, they might encounter some other Blood Horkers who'll do their best to get their revenge.
On top of that, loot has been punched up in a very Diablo-style way: even better than the typical spoils of battle and foraging, every so often you’ll come across a Legendary enemy who will drop a uniquely named special weapon or item with a modifier. You might get a pistol that refreshes your action points when executing a critical hit, an arm piece that makes lockpicking easier, a flamethrower that deals extra radiation damage, or any of dozens of others. I found it difficult to part with these - they’re so full of potential, and I found I changed my playstyle to take advantage of the bonuses they offer, and sacrificing superior protection to keep them. And of course, all of these items are just as customizable as anything else (except you can’t break them down for parts). 2b1af7f3a8
